What the Provide First Aid course covers

HLTAID011 is the qualification most Australian employers, industries and regulators mean when they require "a first aid certificate." The course covers responding to an emergency using the DRSABCD action plan, CPR and defibrillation, and managing conditions and injuries including bleeding and shock, choking, burns, fractures, asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, envenomation and more. The Statement of Attainment includes HLTAID009, HLTAID010 and HLTAID011.

Certification is nationally recognised, delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909. Renewal every three years is the accepted industry recommendation, with the CPR component refreshed every 12 months.

Common questions

Which format should I choose?

Both lead to the same certificate. The blended format suits people comfortable completing theory online — it means only 2 hours in person. The full-day format suits anyone who prefers everything delivered face to face, with no pre-learning.

Does HLTAID011 include CPR?

Yes — HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is issued within it. Keeping CPR current between full renewals only requires the standalone CPR course.

How long is the certificate valid?

Renewal every three years is the accepted industry recommendation, with the CPR component refreshed every 12 months. Some employers and industries set their own timeframes.
